Turn your older B&O speakers into wireless marvels
Bang & Olufsen has revealed a new streaming box designed to breathe life into the company’s older speaker systems by turning them into wireless speakers. Beoconnect Core will seamlessly integrate with existing B&O speakers to allow users to stream music from their favorite apps – be that Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer or others – to speakers more than three decades old.
The streaming box can also be used to connect legacy B&O speakers to any third party TV with HDMI eARC for more immersive cinematic experiences. It means you can connect your Samsung or LG TV to the Beoconnect Core and you can enjoy Top Gun: Maverick (for example) with sound from your 20 year old B&O speakers rather than the TV’s speakers.
The steaming box doesn’t just look like any old streaming box either. Making even the Apple TV 4K look boring, the Beoconnect Core has a curved, pearl-blasted aluminum chassis that is designed to effectively dissipate heat, while the non-conductive cover is said to ensure optimal antenna performance. It also integrates with the company’s Beosound Shape through a dedicated bracket that docks into a Beosound Shape tile, allowing it to blend into a room and its smarts go unnoticed.
Speaking of smarts, there are several on board here apart from those already mentioned. The Beoconnect Core has a few connectivity options, including Powerlink and USB to cater for Beolab 50 and Beolab 90 speakers, while a line-in port connects turntables and other audio sources. You’ll also find a Mozart replaceable streaming module to guarantee compatibility with future advancements from the company.

The Bang & Olufsen Beoconnect Core is available from now online and in selected Bang & Olufsen stores, for $1150/£999.
