Watching Super Bowl this weekend? Here are 5 Sky Glass tips you should know

It’s a huge weekend for NFL fans this weekend as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LVIII. The game is being held at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and it will kick off at 6.30pm ET time, with plenty of streaming options available.

Whether the Kansas City Chiefs will be become the ninth team ever to repeat as champions, or whether the 49ers will be able to secure their first Lombardi trophy in almost 30 years remains to be seen until the game. If you’re planning on streaming the Super Bowl on Sky Glass however, there are some tips we do know, and you should too.

Turn on Auto Enhance

This is actually a tip that is worth knowing not just for the once-a-year Super Bowl, but also when you’re just tuning into a film for the night or you’re watching a standard NFL game or football game on Sky Sports.

Auto Enhance will recognise what genre of content you are watching on your Sky Glass TV and optimise the sound and picture quality for what it considers to be the ultimate viewing experience.

Press the button with the three white dots on your Sky Glass remote and head to Viewing Modes. From here, select Auto. When you turn on the Super Bowl game on Sunday, Sky Glass will automatically turn on sports mode.

Consider Night Mode

There’s a sound setting on Sky Glass that works in a similar way to Night Sound on Sonos soundbars. Reducing the volume level of dramatic sound and dampening the bass, Night Mode will reduce the noise of the crowds cheering for example, making sure you don’t wake the whole house up in the early hours on Sunday if you’re watching the game while your household sleeps.

Again, press the button with the three white dots on your Sky Glass remote and head to Night Mode to toggle on or off.

Use your voice

One of the best things about Sky Glass is voice control. It’s the easiest way to find content, and that includes the Super Bowl. You’ll need to say “Hello Sky” or “Hello Glass” to your TV, then you can say any of the below phrases for access to the Super Bowl:

  • “Super Bowl”
  • “Super Bowl Live”
  • “The Super Bowl”
  • “Super Bowl 58”
  • “Super Bowl Las Vegas”
  • “Super Bowl 2024”
  • “Super Bowl Half Time Show”
  • “Kansas City Chiefs”
  • “San Francisco 49ers”
  • “The Chiefs”
  • “The 49ers”
  • “Chiefs Vs The 49ers”
  • “The 49ers V the Chiefs”
  • “Travis Kelce”
  • “Patrick Mahomes”
  • “Brock Purdy”
  • “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs”

Find your remote

We’ve all misplaced the remote at some point and there’s nothing more frustrating. Whether you’ve simply dropped it down the side of the sofa, or you’ve got yourself a little excited when your team – whether that’s the 49ers or Chiefs – get a touchdown and it’s disappeared, we’ve got a tip that can help.

Say “Hello Sky” or “Hello Glass” to your TV and then “Find my Remote”. Your remote will start bleeping immediately so you’ll be able to find it.

Access quick settings quickly

Accessing settings on Sky Glass isn’t the easiest – they are all the way at the bottom of the interface which means you have to scroll through all that wonderful distracting content and any app services or top 10s before you get to them.

Quick settings are just a button press away however, and they are great for things like turning the microphone on of off, adjusting the viewing mode and changing the speaker output, for example.

Hit the button with the three white dots we mentioned earlier and you’ll see quick settings appear at the bottom of your Sky Glass screen.
