Ring's latest battery-powered Video Doorbell brings Pro features to your door

There’s a good chance that when you think about video doorbells, Ring will be the company that pops into your head first – despite there being multiple options on the market. The company is to video doorbells what Dyson is to vacuum cleaners and there’s a new – and pretty exciting – doorbell joining the line up.

Ring has announced the Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro to its portfolio, marking the first battery-powered video doorbell within the Pro portfolio that up until now, only offered wired models.

Equipped with radar technology, the Battery Video Doorbell Pro boasts advanced features such as 3D Motion Detection, Bird’s Eye Zones and Bird’s Eye View, allowing you to pinpoint movement outside your home and give you more control over the motion alerts you get. The Bird’s Eye Zones and View give you an ariel perspective so you’ll only get alerts when motion is detected in that exact location you’ve set rather than every time someone walks past your window.

When it comes to imagery, the Battery Video Doorbell Pro delivers 1536p HD video and it offers features like Dynamic Image processing and compression, promising vivid colours and sharpness in any lighting conditions, whether you are watching footage from the evening before, or the Live View in the middle of the day.

Ring has said the Battery Video Doorbell Pro has enhanced imaging sensors and Low-Light Sight technology on board to offer clearer visibility, with illumination from streetlights or landscape lighting all that’s needed for colour video at night.

In terms of other features, the Battery Video Doorbell Pro offers Two-Way Talk with Audio+, Colour Pre-Roll and Quick Replies for seamless communication. Subscribing to a Ring Protect Plan unlocks additional features like cloud storage and rich notifications, enhancing the user experience. You’ll also get Package Alerts and Person Alerts with a subscription. For now, there is still no familiar face detection like you will find on the Google Nest Doorbells – both the wired and battery versions – but you do get compatibility with Alexa.

Pair the Ring Battery Video Pro doorbell up with an Echo Show for example, and you can receive alerts or ask Alexa to show you the feed from your new doorbell, whilst getting alerts on Alexa-powered speakers.

Expanding on this, the Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro seamlessly integrates with other Ring products like the Ring Stick Up Cam and Ring Alarm to create a comprehensive home security system, as you might expect.

The Battery Video Doorbell Pro will be available for purchase at $229.99 / £199.99 starting 20 March on Ring.com, Amazon, and select retailers.
